Phuket History

The most striking event in the history of Phuket was the attack by the Burmese in 1785. Captain Francis Light, a British East India Company on board on the island over to the local administration has noted that the Burmese armed forces are preparing for the attack. Khunying Jan, the wife of the recently deceased governor, and his sister and Mook mounted that the armed forces were in a position. After a period of one month seat, the Burmese were forced to retreat on 13 March 1785. Both women are local heroes, in which the honorary titles Thao Thep Kasatri and Thao Sri Sunthon of King Rama I. During the reign of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), in Phuket is the administrative center of the production of tin southern provinces. In 1933 Monthon was dissolved Phuket and Phuket is a province in itself. Old names on the island include KB Thalang
